60th wedding anniversary and peonies for the #2flowergirls

These past weeks have been crazy. I can honestly say that this summer has started in an awesome way, but the workload has also been incredible. (@Dad: I am NOT complaining, just telling ;) What we've been up to these last weeks will be on the sisterMAG Blog shortly (Toni and I just have to come around writing about all the adventures ;). Today however I want to revive a nice tradition on Neu4bauer: the family event tables. It was my grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary this Thursday and we all went to their village to celebrate together. A while back I had made the invitations using Brittany's lovely card idea. Who would have guessed that the day would be SO hot! Thus my parents decided to have the tables outside and we celebrated underneath the cherry tree (which I have climbed in the past to collect cherries ;).

#2flowergirls – literally ;)! Grandma and me.

Probably most interesting about the wedding date of my grandparents: on 20th June 1953 the GDR was at state of emergency because of the Uprising in East Germany (if you want to read more about this, click here). My grandfather told us today that he took the bike to his hometown to get meat and food for his wedding, while armors were patrolling the streets. The little village, where they still live today, would not forget their wedding either for a long while since the horses of their carriage bolted and crashed into the garden of their neighbours ;)

Also: when I read about this month's 'challenge' of the #2flowergirls Elodie and Inga, I instantly hoped for an opportunity to visit my grandmother. She has the most amazing peony flowerbed. Did you know that it needs 5-10 years before they bloom when planted in your garden (my grandmother told me today). Other than that, they don't make too much work, she explained. Taken the amount of peonies I cut today, I would have probably paid >70 bucks in Berlin #luckyme. I hope you like the summery pictures. Today, the layouting phase of sisterMAG N°8 starts. I thought about sharing some inspirations in this space. Would you be interested? What inspires you most these days? I would love to know. Maybe I can incorporate something into the new issue!
Was inspiriert euch in diesen Tagen?

Herzlich, Sabine

My dear Thea,
I am so happy you took part, and your blogpost is beautiful. I love the flowers as the back of the chairs, like for a wedding. It all looks so summery! I also love your colour code and the three generations in white.
I also like using my 35 mm for this kind of shootings. I am so glad you took part in #2flowergirls this time and yes I would LOVE to see some inspiration from sisterMAG N°8 on your lovely blog!
